Founder of Awake NY, designer Angelo Baque is a champion of community with the goal of inspiring the next generation of creators. For “Senior Thesis”, Baque tapped three artists: King Phade, Larissa De Jesús Negrón, and Uber Lopez to express their diverse creative talents using the iconic Champion crew neck sweatshirt as their canvas. Each artist reimagined the Champion graphic sweatshirt with elevated prints, embroidery, and symbolic imagery. A pioneer of graffiti streetwear, Shirt King Phade’s designer sweatshirt showcases bold, air-brushed graphics. Larissa De Jesús Negrón’s interest in the subconscious can be seen in the vibrant, abstract landscape on her exclusive graphic sweatshirt. Uber Lopez chose symbolic graphics and embroidered details that reflect his environment and everyday life in South Central, Los Angeles. Baque kept his text-based design classic and sees “Senior Thesis” as an opportunity for artists to explore, research, and answer questions that compel them through their work.
